Subject: Data Base Cpature ( 10.0.5 )
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII
I have just spent a frustrating period of time trying to assist a
user with data base capture in 10.0.5 - it seems that new security
features in SPSS and ODBC mean that passwords are required and each
data set appears to need setting up under ODBC in the Control Panel.
I raised this with SPSS (UK) and they indicated that they were aware
of the new 'feature' and the difficulties it might cause. They were
going to 'talk to the States' and see what was happening.
Are there any others users besides me who find the new feature
frustrating when trying to support users with a wide range of
expertise and also scattered over a number of sites ?
Best wishes
