Subject: convert string to numeric
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi,

I posted a message last week about converting existing string variables to numeric variables. I received a few replies, but none of them provided the solutions I want. All I want is to change the existing variables from string to numeric using SYNTAX, withouth changing the variable names. I don't want to create new variables. Can someone help me out here?

I use SPSS 9.0 on NT.
