Giff Beaton and I birded a few areas around Gainsville-Hall County this morning, and although we didn't find anything real rare, we did find an immature White Ibis and 3 immature Little Blue Herons at Chicopee Woods, located southeast of Gainsville off of Calvary Church Rd. Other birds at Chicopee Woods included 1 Great Egret, 2 Great Blue Herons, 2 Green Herons, an Eastern Screech-Owl and 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.

We also found a Eurasian Collared-Dove in Gainsville. I believe that they have been found here before, but I'm not sure where. This one was at the intersection of GA 53 Connector and GA 369 (Jesse Jewell Parkway).

Also in Hall Co., we stopped at the GA 60 bridge over Squirrel Creek and had 3 Great Egrets, 2 Great Blue Herons, 2 Green Herons, and Black-and-white and Hooded Warblers.

In Forsyth Co., we had a Great Egret and a Solitary Sandpiper at the ponds off of Riley Rd. (between Matt and Silver City), and Giff found several Cliff Swallows on the Hall/Forsyth Co. line at GA 53 over the Chestatee R. arm of Lake Lanier.

Take care. -- Jim Flynn Cumming, GA jflynn@america.net ******************* Georgia Ornithological Society http://www.gos.org/ *******************
