Subject: Re: SAS and Perl

Greetings, I'm a SAS programmer who has done a little with perl. I feel that both have their strengths and weaknesses. There are things I would do in SAS and others in perl. I'm reminded of the saying 'To him who only has a hammer, everthing is a nail'. Then there is the Dirty Harry line 'A man has got to know his limitations.' Perl is a excellent language. I'm glad to have it at my disposal. I believe that neither SAS nor Perl will replace the other. Lets leave the 'My language can beat up your language' arguements alone.

Dave
