Yes.

Start by looking in the SAS Companion for your system. There might also be a book for your system; for MVS, try Michael Raithel's book, available from SAS Institute (and other fine technical booksellers everywhere).

Also, look in past SUGI Proceedings; papers have been presented on various architectures. The past few years are available online at

<http://www.sas.com/usergroups/sugi/proceedings/index.html>

Click on the links in the left frame; look in the index for those years which have them, and in the Systems Architecture sections.

You didn't tell us what kind of workstations and servers you are using, so it's difficult to make specific recommendations.
