Ronda,
You have a choice between two pull-downs inside the "analyze" option on the
SPSS 10 menu bar:
Analyze > Multiple response
Analyze > custom Tables > Multiple Response Tables
Use the one I listed second, which is toward the top of the pull down list.
The other one, which is at the bottom of the pull-down box, gave you that
ugly output.
