Senior Programmer/Analyst, Statistical Applications (Statistical consultant)

Binghamton University, Binghamton, NY 13902

Academic Computing Services seeks a user services professional to advise faculty and graduate students on the application of statistics to research problems. Duties include consultation on research design and methodology, sampling techniques, selection of appropriate software for particular analysis situations and interpretation of output from statistical packages. The analyst advises clients on a broad range of research projects from survey analyses to forecasting and is responsible for software customization and the user interface to large databases such as the US Census, ICPSR files, Compustat and CRSP. Duties include teaching non-credit workshops on the use of statistics and statistical software and producing/maintaining web-based documentation of local statistical resources. Bachelor's degree required; masters preferred. Minimum of five years consulting/programming experience using statistical analysis software preferred. Experience with SAS/SPSS on Unix or Windows platforms desirable. Familiarity with other statistical packages is a plus. Good oral and written communications skills required. Salary commensurate with experience.
