Subject: Lapland Longspur at Huie 12/11/00
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Chris Loudermilk and I had good looks this morning at a Lapland Longspur on the Huie ponds in Clayton Co. One was seen this afternoon by Nelson Dobbs and one or more were heard mixed in with a flock of Pipits (as they flew towards the large south pond) by several other observers. The one we saw was moving back and forth between the dikes of the northeast pond and the pump station pond. It flushed easily but seemed to return to the same general area, vocalizing as it flew. Eric Boehm reported two from this same area late Sunday afternoon.

The Ross' and Snow Geese were not seen today as far as I know. I also had an Orange-crowned Warber at the Wetlands Center...not a bad day on the job.
