With 10.0.7 on a new W2K 1ghz machine we benchmarked a couple analyses and found poor performance compared to an older (<500mhz) machine. We "downgraded" to Win98 and saw dramatic improvement.

Results for a computational intensive job were: Comparison machine (Win98) 1:49 New machine with Win2000 3:15 New machine with Win98 0:26

I'm interested in the experience of others to ensure that there weren't other installation issues involved.

I've also been using 10.0.7 on a W2K machine since August and haven't had any problems. In fact, it is a substantial improvement over my work machine also using 10.0.7 but on NT4. FWIW, my work machine is a 500 Mhz P3 and my home machine is an 800 Mhz P3, both have 256 MB of RAM. I too wonder if a Celeron chip can handle it.
