Subject:   Re: Matching observations in two datasets

Dear John,

It would be helpful to have some sample data to see more clearly the matching criteria you wish to do.

I might suggest you visit the Tips and Techniques section of my web site http://www.sconsig.com and scan through the various tips (also try doing a FIND in the window on key words such as "merge", "fuzzy", "linking", "SQL", "closest", "match" and maybe other key words I haven't mentioned.

When you have some sample data, I would be happy to see what you have and maybe offer a possible solution but can not promise anything. When I do my fuzzy match/merge routines, it normally takes me about 30-40 hours to produce a customize solution for a given client based upon their criteria and data.

Hope the existing tips might be of some help. Charles Patridge Email: Charles_S_Patridge@prodigy.net
