Unfortunately, this isn't the first time in the past few years that SPSS introduced a promising "new" (sometimes newly-acquired and repackaged) product with great fanfare then abandons it when the MBAs discover its limited commercial value. Like you, I fooled with TextSmart, took the class, and hoped SPSS would refine it. The Java app needs work, but I like the TextSmart idea. I'm starting to wonder if that's going to happen.
