I have a data file with 6 columns listing the type of sport clubs an individual attends (e.g., football, basketball etc). I need to create a column which tells me how many different types of sports an individual goes to. The problem I have is that any one individual may go to the same type of club more than once (e.g., football).

I do have a fairly long winded method of creating this column at the moment which involves creating a multi-response table, pasting the results into a datafile and then employing the NVALID function. Is there a macro I could use to simplify this procedure?

Thanks Angela Abbott
