It's obvious that it was a great city and a great location, this Fortezza da Basso.

A colleague of me, and I have presented the "Implementation of an outlier Detection method for HTS in Drug Discovery". Unfortenately, there were not so many people present, -the weather was beautiful, wednesday 15.50-, and we had no "Web" in our title. So, in fact this is another opportunity to reach some people and tell you that we've created a Web enabled application with Sas/Webaf to analyse the results of an HTS assay (Find a compound through High Througput Screening for a given target). The goal of the application is to find the False Negatives by a Sas/EM process. You can review it on your CD, or mail me for details.

In this application we used two "hot" SAS tools, ie Webaf - for applets to select update, and save data on the server side using the intranet-, and SAS/Intrnet to create a Web page on request by submitting a SAS program.

Any reactions?

But I saw also some interesting presentations, - Dave Apter of De Beers Mining, or how you can easily use static web reporting using SAS. - Luis Miguel Muruzabel of Endesa (Spanisch Electricity company) about an segmentation project for 10 mio customers with SAS/EM. - Gerling Industrial Insurance company with Risk simulation using SAS/IML (Do you really need an expensive SAS/EM?). - And the football presentation? Great! Any reactions, did or didn't you like these? And why?

Trends? Use of SAS tools to analyse a hugh amount of data, with statistical methods (Neural Networks, ... the mining as Sigrud called it) Publish on the web, but a lack for me is "what do we have to use when why"? Appdev for applets, or JSP, or servlets, ... Sas/Intrnet to create dynamic webpages, ... other trends? Mayby we can discuss this in the egroup http://groups.yahoo.com/group/appdevstudio.

Also on this issue there was a presentation, thursday 11.00 "Using SAS, Java and Webaf to deliver bussiness intelligence in Pharmaceuticals".

My reaction on Jacks "do everything for everybody" as the goal of SI is that SI wants to offer their solutions to their clients (take the webHound). It's easy buy it, roll it out and it's giving you a great ROI, is the SI picture. SI very often forgets that all their solutions have to be implemented at the user site, and have to be customized. An end user wants to see the result of a statistical method, he will almost never starts to point and click to make that solution. (I'm talking about the user, not about the BA who creates the solutions) In this process there is a crucial role for partners, and devellopers as some of us are to make it work.

Regards,

R.
