Subject: Simulation program in SAS to calculate type-I error
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Dear Statisticians,

I would like to run a simulation program in SAS to calculate the type-I error rate in a clincial trial setup. The outcomes are proportion of successes(Yes/No) in both the drugs(test and standard drug) and the hypothesis tested is,

Ho: Test drug<=Standard drug H1: Test drug> Standard drug (superiority test)

or any other hypothesis I might choose to test.

The type-I error could change if I re-estimate the original sample size based on a different hypothesis or probably if I choose a different hypothesis for which the rejection region is different compared to the original hypothesis. I am kind of lost when it comes to writing a SAS program to accomplish this task and I would sincerely appreciate if you could give me some input.

Best Regards, Dr. Mathew Thomas Cleveland, Ohio
