Subject: Re: PROC COMPUTAB
Comments: To: Jack Hamilton <JackHamilton@FIRSTHEALTH.COM>

Yes,

I agree with Jack that Proc Computab should belong in the Base Product as it has nothing to do with Time Series.

I use to use it A LOT when I had SAS/ETS and REALLY enjoyed using it before Proc Report was ever even dreamed of. Very Powerful tool at that time.

Now, since we do not license SAS/ETS we use Proc Report or pass the data onto MS EXCEL to that kind of stuff.

If you needed Proc Computab but did not care about Times Series (ETS), then it would be VERY DIFFICULT to cost justify the purchase of SAS/ETS to get Proc Computab.

In my years of posting jobs on SCONSIG.com, I can only remember a couple of jobs requiring Knowledge of SAS/ETS (no word mentioned about Proc Computab) and that is probably out of 1000 or so jobs that I have posted over the past 6 years.

So, I think your paper could possibly fall on deaf ears but do not let me sway you to not do it. I still like Proc Computab but can not justify the expense of buying it.

Too bad, it really should be moved to BASE SAS.

My $.025 contribution to your question. Regards, Charles Patridge Email: Charles_S_Patridge@prodigy.net
