GABO;

Deb, Tom Egan and I made a quick run to the coast today to see what was around. We had a pretty good day! We visited Harris Neck, Andrews Island causeway and the Altamaha WMA. The day list was 87 species, which wasn't bad considering we had very few migrants. Here are the highlights from today's birding;

Harris Neck

American Bittern - 1 Bobolink - 3 No ducks at all in Woody Pond!

Andrews Island causeway

Black Rail - calling on the right side of the causeway near the gate Clapper Rail - 10 (3 flushed) Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow - 6 Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow - 4 Sharp-tailed Sparrow sp. - 4 Seaside Sparrow - 10 Marsh Wren - 14 (6 were the Worthington's sub-species) American Avocet - 150 Peregrine Falcon - 1 Merlin - 3 American Kestrel - 3 Roseate Spoonbill - 8 Bald Eagle - 1 immature

Altamaha

Savanah Sparrow - 50+ Bobolink - 1 Merlin - 1 American Kestrel - 2 King Rail - 1
