Subject: drumming Ruffed Grouse (almost in GA)

On Sat., Oct. 20, I heard, then saw, a Ruffed Grouse drumming on a log just a short distance off the hiking trail at Glen Falls in the Nantahala Nat. Forest, SE of Highlands, NC. This is only 2 miles from the Georgia line (as the raven flies). It drummed 4 times within a 10-minute period. I thought that was unusual for mid October.
