if you want to talk "time-sensitive", remember your supplier (SI) probably has an office open _somewhwere_... At 22:00 in London UK, I have called Customer Support in Cary,NC.- longer after UK Customer Support closes. I expect there is an office in HK/Japan/Australia/NZ when/if I need help later in the night.

As to IRC, I'm not sure how I can authenticate advice ....... ( see related thread and detail from Karsten Self Re: OT: Mail authentication (was Re: Demand for our new) )

Betreff: Re: IRC SAS Channel; also thanks to David Ward on object basedSAS Nachrichtentext:

Simple.

Lets say I have a problem and I send an email to SAS-L. But the program is time sensitive and it has to be done yesterday. I might not get a response right away. And if I do get a response, I might need more help with the same program b/c the response wasn¹t helpful or I have more problems.

The IRC channel is not here to replace the SAS-L, it is here to offer 24/7 free support. There is nothing like real time answer so that I can say "hold on a sec while I try that proc."

See what I mean? I am working on setting up a channel. The main people will be ops (operators) of the channel, if they want to be. I will help with the technical part in operating the channel.

As long as there are SAS programmers who work with an Internet connection you can just leave the channel open.
