Brian,
For me the biggest jump in speed (at least 5 times) was
when I emulated HD in RAM (I use SperSpeed Software for this)
Next step just redirect WORK directory to this disk:
1) Find file Sasv8.cfg
2) Find line -WORK "C:\SAS\SAS Temporary Files\"
3) Change it to -WORK "N:\" (Assume that it is the RAM Drive)
My configuration now 1GB HD in Ram and 512MB for OS works for me.
