About the CPU equality with the SAS sort: I can't say I'd have anticipated it, but in hindsight I'm not too surprised. Syncsort's trademark has always been very efficient I/O; and, given the 33% saving in wall time, that seems to be what's happening here too.

I'll be interested to see if you can tweak it to do better than it does out of the box.
