Just did a quick check of this week's posts on the archive. I counted 41 spam topics -- 38 of which were in HTML.

I don't know whether we can set a filter on the list to reject posts containing the string "<html>" or "<HTML>". If you get individual e-mails from SAS-L, rather than the digest, and can set a filter to reject posts from SAS-L that contain those strings, it should block most of the spam. (I'm assuming individual e-mails still has the list as a sender, rather than the poster as sender; since I get the digest, that's an untested assumption. :-)

Joe Kelley, any hope of implementing this for the list?
