I am currently working through Programming with SPSS Scripts. The manual
is designed for those with little to no programming experience. It takes
the user from the very basics through complex scripts.
I had no programming experience, in SPSS or otherwise, and I am at the
point where I can generate very simple scripts and make simple
modifications to more complex scripts. However, with this limited
knowledge I can do quite a bit, since there are many scripts that come with
the manual, can be downloaded from Raynald's web site, and the SPSS web
site, that can be used with little or no modifications.
If you have programming experience, especially in VB, you probably could
get away without using the manual, and learn scripting by using the Help
menu in SPSS and referring to Raynald's web site
