Subject: Filtering SAS-L spam and junk

Those who receive SAS-L as individual e-mails (not digest) and who use an
e-mail client which allows incoming message filtering, it might be of
interest to know that I have eliminated virtually all 'unwanted' SAS-L mail
by implementing a local filter which intercepts messages according to the
following rules:
"SAS-L" in the Header, together with any one or more of the following:
"click here" in body of text
"<inverted "?" (pasted from heiroglyphic message)>" in Body of text
"Nigeria" in body of text
"Africa" in body of text
I'm using those simple filter rules to move intercepted messages to a
separate folder, the header list of which I can browse before
deleting. Those rules are catching virtually all junk, and have so far not
'caught' any legitimate SAS-L messages.
As previously discussed, 'click here' is the one that catches the vast
majority of the junk. The inverted "?" catches the non-English character
set ones, whilst the last two are obviously specific to the 'Nigerian Scam'
and variants thereof.
Kind Regards
John
