By rank, do you mean which of the 5 factors is the most important, 2nd in importance, etc. Convert you likert scale strings to numerical values and sum them for each factor, high score (or low score depending how you assign the numbers) will give you your ranking. Or am I missing your point?

One of a ways is to do the Regression Analysis, but you need a dependent variable (like job satisfaction). Treat these items as independent variables. May be some expert in this list may have better advice! AB Maureen Lastima <m_lastima@hotmail.com> wrote:I have a question. On one of my surveys, I have a series of items that respondents must pick an answer from a Likert Scale.

How important are the following items in choosing a job:

Salary Location Benefits Vacation Time Career Advancement

The likert scale used is Very Important-Important-Somewhat Important-Not Important

I dummied the likert scale into 'V.Imp' and Not 'V.Imp' and looked at how gender affected the answer.

That's the easy part. Now I want 'rank' the items(even though that's not what I asked the respondents to do), how do I go about doing that in SPSS.

Thanks in advance
