Thanks for your email. Actually I'm doing a project using a data file from Search & Rescue of our province. The file in the CD that they gave to me is saved as *. dmp. And I was told that this file is an Oracle file. I need to convert this file to SPSS or SAS file and then doing further analysis. I tried to change its extension and took a look of the file, but seems to me I couldn't find each record clearly in this way. I am a new user of SAS and just wondering if there is any procedure to read Oracle file. Any idea will be highly appreciated.

nan

There is no guarantee of any particular structure of any file based on its extension. You can assign any file an extension of "dmp" just by renaming it.

I suggest you look into how the file was created, how you got it, and what do you want to do with it?
