But is Clintrial a PC product? I've seen it on VAXes, but never on PC's.
But I haven't worked everywhere.
And it may be what MicroSoft is trying to move to, but the key word
there is "trying." I don't think they are going to be very successful.

I don't think so. The principle of software licenses becomes more and
more
common. Another example: recently (starting 2002?) Phase Forward's
(previously Clinsoft/Domain Pharma/BBN) Clintrial changed from a buyable
product with an optional (but common and very high) yearly maintenance
support into a licensed product with support for (immensely high) yearly
license fees.
