Just a few notes from yesterday's birding in southwest Georgia, where Earl Horn and I birded northern Early, southwest Calhoun, and southeast Randolph Cos.

Yellow-crowned Night-Heron: 1 adult, Factory Creek @ CR 141, Early Co.

Northern Harrier: 1 female/imm., Randolph Co.

Broad-winged Hawk: 6 total for the day, widely scattered but never more than one; Early, Calhoun and Stewart Cos.

Wild Turkey: 4 in three locations, Early and Calhoun Cos.

Barred Owl: 4 total, Clay, Quitman and Early Cos.; all but one was either heard or seen during the day

Chuck-will's-widow: 3 total, but the day's disappointment. I thought we would have better luck with nightjars yesterday morning

Great Crested Flycatcher: widely distributed and in good numbers

Eastern Kingbird: widely distributed, but not as numerous as Great Crested Flycatchers

Wood Thrush: 1, Factory Creek @ CR 141, Early Co.

Warblers: 13 species total (Orange-crowned, Northern Parula, Yellow-rumped, Pine, Prairie, Palm, Black-and-white, American Redstart, Swainson's Warbler, Louisiana Waterthrush, Kentucky, Common Yellowthroat, Hooded---notice that Yellow-throated is absent)

Orange-crowned Warbler: just 1, Calhoun Co.

American Redstart: 1 male, Randolph Co.

Swainson's Warbler: 2, Odum Creek Park Rd./Odum Creek Park, Early Co.

Louisiana Waterthrush: 3, Odum Creek Park Rd./Odum Creek Park

Kentucky Warbler: 3, Early Co.

Bachman's Sparrow: 3, scattered across northern Early Co.

White-crowned Sparrow: 10, all but 1 were immatures (9 at in one flock near Turman, Calhoun Co.; 1 along CR 15, Calhoun Co.)

Orchard Oriole: just 1, 2nd year male at Odum Creek Park, Early Co.

American Goldfinch: widely distributed flyovers of one or two, but also one flock of 50 at Odum Creek Park, Early Co.

Take care.
