This problem was quite common when we first had SPSS Version 10.
I recall that the problem was corrected with a patch the from SPSS website.
However, I have not experienced it with 11.0. My operating system has also
been upgraded recently from Win98 to Win2000.
I understand there is already a patch for 11.5 at the SPSS website.
I suggest you check for the new patches to 11.0.
Best wishes.

Subject: SPSS Crashes
Hello-
I have been running SPSS 11.0.1 on win2000 for about 1 year.
On two occasions within the last 2 months, SPSS has crashed when I try
to save a file using the 'save file' icon. This is a particularly nasty
type of crash, as it appears to delete the contents of the file. The first
time the crash occurred, I was left with my variables, but no data. This
time I was left with a file with the same filename, but no variables, or
data. Incremental saves during processing do not appear to be helpfuls, as
the crash overwrites the 'file', i.e., I cannot restore to the version of
the file committed during my last save.
Anyone else experience the same problem? Any suggestions?
