I think you can find something in the SUGI 27 proceedings. Jason Secosky presented on it last year, and Paul Kent talked briefly about it in last year's sunday morning "SAS V9 changes and Enhancements" presentation that he and Dana did.

There's a rumor that last year, when Paul announced that there would be Perl regexen available in the data step, someone loudly said "YES!" That rumor is true. It was me.
