Maybe. I'm not sure that "hub-and-spoke" is the right term, but SAS version 8 stores metadata in several different places, and they are managed by several different programs.

Version 9 replaces that with a single metadata server which is part of the base product. The metadata server will be one of the servers managed by the new SAS Management Console.

at that link in eWeek, I find this quote

"SAS 9.1 will also include support for a central metadata repository, replacing the hub-and-spoke system SAS now uses."

Please can anyone describe the wheel that's being re-invented there ?
