You folks may scoff at these <insert name of that country here> letters that appear from time to time (like every 4 hours). BUT ... I suspect at least one of them was real. Think about this for a second ... every year at the SAS-L BOF during SUGI, the "committee" hands out plaques and other honors for special contributors to this forum. Where do they get the money for this?

My suspicion is that Mike & David & Joe & ... are drawing off the 15% of $17.8M in Foreign Funds(tm) that they picked up in the name of SAS-L a few years ago through one of those "pretend to be the dead nephew of the head of the Ministry of Corruption" things. Through careful money management, they've been able to survive these lean investment years and are still able to cough up the money each for a few plaques, certificates, and other honors at each SUGI - and hopefully they will be able to do so for a few more years, after which they'll have to find another "legitimate" <insert name of that country here> offer to keep feeding their award habit.

Thank you all for your selflessness, SAS-L team! Lesser individuals would have just taken the money and went off on a multiple day drinking binge in some Caribbean island nation.

Andy K. This post reflects only the thoughts of the poster, and not necessarily those of his employer. In fact, many posts - especially this one - DEFINITELY don't reflect any official thought! (Or much of any thought whatsoever ...)

Actually, I believe I've seen one already in my individual mailbox.

If you'd like, I can tell them of your interest. <g>
