At work I've got a Dell Dimension 8200 1.7GHz running W2K and SPSS opens in
about 7 seconds. You might want to take a look at what's in your start menu
(what Windows opens automatically when you turn on the machine). You could
be running a bunch of stuff in the background that you're unaware of. Those
programs could be using up available system resources causing the slow load
of SPSS (or any other programs for that matter).
