Many thanks to Jon Peck for this, and other most useful posts!
And thanks to Richard Oliver, also of SPSS, for confirming that the
"TRANSFORM" command that had worried me was a long-uncorrected editing mistake.
You guys may not realize just how good it feels to have somebody from
'inside' take the trouble to fill us in on this kind of thing, that
it's hard for even an experienced user to be on top of.
