Subject: Q: Quota sampling by SAS, maybe SURVEYSELECT

Hi SAS list, A collegue has a finite population (not sample!) of N=600, and wants to draw a smaller sample that reflects special quotas of the population, e.g. the proportion males/females, and several other variables. He cannot use the whole population for analysis, because he hasn't the data yet. All he got is a complete adress list of the members of the population. He does not want to collect all the data, because there's no time to do this. It is also much labour. So he wants to draw a small quota sample (the smaller the better), adress them, and just collect their data. Is this sampling by quota possible with SAS, eg. with SURVEYSELECT? Maybe you could recommend some sampling software? Thanks a lot in advance, SASKID
