Vacation time brings requests about how to how to temporarily suspend messages from GABO-L while away from your computer. There are two ways to handle this.

1. By sending a command directly to the listserv address (NOT to the list), as follows.

To stop the mail, send this one line message from your regular e-mail address (the one under which you are subscribed):

set gabo-l NOMAIL

to LISTSERV@listserv.uga.edu

This tells the listserv computer to stop sending mail to that mailbox until further notice. Then, when you wish to receive mail again, send this command:

set gabo-l MAIL

to the same LISTSERV@listserv.uga.edu address. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------

2. Interactively at the GABO-L web site.

This will ultimately be the simplest way of handling all account management functions, but does require that you have a listserv password. Registering a password is very simple and will make all your future dealings with any "listserv" list much easier. You can do it at this site: http://www.listserv.uga.edu/ You only have to do it once.

Once you have acquired a password, go to the following site, the same one listed at the bottom of each message posted to GABO-L. http://www.listserv.uga.edu/archives/gabo-l.html

1.Click on "Join or leave the list (or change settings)"

2.Click on "login with your LISTSERV password"

On this page, you will be asked to enter your name and e-mail address, and you may then choose from among a variety of account setting options, e.g., to suspend mail temporarily, scroll down to the "Miscellaneous" category and check "Mail delivery disabled temporarily". This is the NOMAIL option. (To start mail again, simply come back and reverse the selection.)

3. Click the "Update options" button
