Hi,

Another way to do it (if you want to flag cases and not only select duplicates), based on Bob's solution:

DATA LIST FREE / CASEID IDIND. BEGIN DATA 101 11 101 12 101 13 102 05 102 11 102 17 103 15 103 16 103 19 104 13 104 15 104 20 105 11 105 23 105 25 END DATA.

SORT CASES BY IDIND.

AGGREGATE OUTFILE = 'c:\temp\flag.sav' / BREAK = IDIND / FLAG = N(caseid).

MATCH FILES /FILE=* /TABLE='C:\Temporal\flag.sav' /BY idind. EXECUTE.

RECODE flag (1=0) (ELSE=1) . EXECUTE .

Individuals who are in more than one family will have FLAG = 1.

HTH

I have a variable (caseid) which identifies families and a variable (idind) which identifies individuals. The sort order is by caseid by idind. I want to flag records of individuals who are in more than one family i.e. associated with more that one caseid.
