The EDIT function can be used in SPSS 11.5 (this brings back memory for sure, I used this function on the VMS mainframe version in batch all the time, saved alot of time).
As I undersatnd it, the EDIT function cannot run in interactrive mode but can in batch. So, write your code, insert the EDIT function, & then run your job via the spss production facility module, the output will display your errors & warnings.
