Sigh,

This is sad news indeed.

It just encourages bad practices further.

Worse yet I will now have to fight with my students in order to get them to do it right. ("Why did you count off for that? That's the way SPSS does it so it has to be right!")

I hope SPSS comes to its senses soon.
