Subject: writing variable and value labels in data editor to syntax form

Dear SPSS list members:

I have a great deal of info on variable and value labels that has been entered into the spss data editor "variables tab".

I want to get this information out of there and into an SPSS syntax file to be able to use to define variable and value labels for another job.

Can this be done?

All I can think of to do is to use the Display command, but, at best, this creates text that demands considerable editing.

Thank-you for any ideas that you might have.

Jim Rosenthal
