A group of birders searched the lands and waters of the CCWA on 1/3 as part of a winter bird survey of the reservoirs, ponds, wetlands and forest edges of this area. We ended up with 82 species for the day. The highlights were as follows:

Eared Grebe-1 Double-crested Cormorant-471 Gadwall-206 Am. Wigeon-19 Am. Black Duck-3 Mallard-297 N. Shoveler-149 N. Pintail-1 Green-winged Teal-79 Lesser Scaup-131 Ring-necked Duck-244 Lesser Scaup-131 Bufflehead-122 Hooded Merganser-47 Ruddy Duck-177 Bald Eagle-2 Sharp-shinned Hawk-2 Red-shouldered Hawk-2 Red-tailed Hawk-6 Am. Kestrel-1 Wild Turkey-1 Am. Coot-41 Wilson's Snipe-9 Great Horned Owl-1 Blue-headed Vireo-2 Hermit Thrush-4 Am. Pipit-55 Cedar Waxwing-35 Fox Sparrow-2 Purple Finch-4
