When you omit the VAR statement, you get the default behavior, which is to
transpose all numeric variables. Occasionally appropriate, but not in this
case.
Your initial statement was quite vague and just said that PROC TRANSPOSE
seemed not to work as needed. If you had been more specific and had shown
code and/or results, somebody would have pinpointed the problem *even
faster*!
