Subject: proc phreg: type of variable is character with 4 values,
              how to construct dummies?
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

hi,

i use proc phreg and i have a variable of type character with 4 values. non-numeric variable = group with the values A, B, C, D.

phreg wants to have numeric variables.

is there an easy way to construct the 3 dummies and why isn`t proc phreg able to construct them automatically?

thanks,

stefan.
