The following is a summary of the Georgia Rare Bird Alert (RBA) Friday evening telephone report, May 4, 2004. The RBA is a service of the Georgia Ornithological Society. Jeff Sewell is the voice of the RBA.

Bob Zaremba reported that Chuck Saleeby found a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO at Kennesaw Mt. this morning near the maintenance area field adjacent to the parking lot. A BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was discovered by Bob on Wednesday along the trail between Kennesaw Mt. and Little Kennesaw Mt. A male WILSON'S WARBLER was also seen today. The warbler was seen about one-tenth of the way up the mountain just above the fire road. Karen Theodorou reported a YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON this morning, along the Richard Trice Trail (also known as the Suwannee Creek Greenway) on Martin Farm Rd., Suwannee, GA. Karen also reported many species of warblers, including PROTHONOTARY WARBLER along the trail. Directions: Take I-85 north out of Atlanta to the Lawrenceville-Suwannee Rd. Exit 111; turn left off of the exit toward Suwannee; proceed to Satellite Blvd. and turn left on Satellite Blvd.; go to the first road on the right, Martin Farm Rd.. There is a small parking area on the left just before you cross Suwannee Creek. A marshy area is located near the parking lot, which is where the night-heron was seen. YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS have once again reported to be nesting along the Chattahoochee River in the Cochran Shoals Unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Cobb Co. [DeLorme: p. 20, grid H-2; Birding Georgia: p. 79]
