Rode about 13 miles out from the start of the trail in Smyrna (Mavell Rd,
Cobb Co). Counted singing birds just on the way out and not on the return
trip. Birds of interest:
N. Bobwhite
Summer Tanager (1)
Kentucky Warbler (1) - was excited to hear this bird, especially this
close to development. Was singing on the way out at about 8:30, and heard
again on the way back in the same spot at around 10 am. The bird was
heard about 2.5 to 3 miles west of the trailhead just after you cross over
a large wooden bridge that goes over a major highway.
Eastern Phoebe (3)
Eastern Wood Pewee (2)
Indigo Bunting (6) seemed to be one singing in almost every open area
Field Sparrow (5)
Song Sparrow (4)
Also heard lots and lots of Cardinals, E. Towhee, Pine Warbler, Tufted
Titmouse, Carlina Chickadee.
