Subject: Cohen's d
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Dear List

I had recently an argument with a colleague about the Cohen's d (effect size magnitude). He said that Cohen's d is mainly dependent of the sample size. I argued, that d = M1 – M2 / sd (where M1 and M2 are the means of the measurements in group 1 and group 2 and sd is the standard deviation) is trough the division by the standard deviation independent of the sample size. Am I wrong here?

Thanks, Christian
