Subject:   selecting cases based on date when importing from SQL
Content-Type:   text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I need to import records for a single day at a time from an SQL data base which contains records for multiple dates. The database has a timestamp variable which has DATE20 format (DD-MMM-YYYY HH:MM:SS) but it doesn't contain a DAY variable.

In the past, I have imported the entire database, created a DAY variable from the timestamp and selected on that. The difficulty is that the entire database contains over a million records and reading and saving all million records is time consuming. The database is updated daily which means reading in all those records every day.

I know that if I had a DAY variable in the SQL data base I could select on that as part of the import. Is there anyway to create DAY as part of the import?
