Hello,

IMHO, TextPad is one of the best tools for SPSS coders out there. Colorizing syntax (see Raynald Levesque's site for instructions) is the best thing to happen to SPSS syntax. Didn't put a period at the end of a comment in your syntax? Its obvious in TextPad, whereas in SPSS's syntax editor you could spend hours trying to find the error.

Not only that, it has loads of features that I use everyday for data manipulation; Block Select Mode, Sort, Compare Files, and its find and replace features surpass Word.

Hope this helps.

Jason

There is no comparsion to notepad, and it does not have the overhead of Word. Also, you can enable highlighting of you syntax files. There are also utilities (http://pages.infinit.net/rlevesqu/FAQ.htm#AlternativeEditor?) to allow you to run syntax from TextPad. Mike H. Benton
