From: An Alert Reader who wishes to remain Anonymous Good question.

We have just installed 9.1.3 in HPIPF and then had to roll back 2 products (SAS Web Report Sudio and Web Report Viewer) as they did not work - java memory errors.

But I do pro-actively apply hotfixes - I do not like waiting until one of our users reports an issue before applying the fixes, many of the hot fx issues would not necessarily be seen by the users - just look at how many hotfixes there are to do with SQL Selects and Where clauses !!

However - applying them can be a nuisance - some cannot be applied while SAS is running - and of course we have Portal up 24/7, with Connect Spawneres etc - so every so often I have to negotiate to remove the machine from the users and take down all the servers - which is probably a good thing anyway.

But V9 application of hotfixes is different - not sure whether it is better or not. And of course there are even more servers running under V9 (didnt someone give a paper at SUGI titled 'Server Soup' ?? ) - suspect I will have to institute a regular maintenance day (s) every month.
