Dave,
Perhaps the SAS message is: Don't try it at home. Given the price (of SAS),
I concur. On the other hand, if one has decided to run SAS on a home PC for
any reasonable purpose and pay, say, $5000 a year, does the difference
between XP Home ($200) and XP Pro ($280) make any palpable difference to
speak of? The "pimple on the elephant's butt" allegory readily comes to
mind... In fact, given the bang-for-the-buck difference between Home and
Pro, even if I could not care less about SAS and/or knew nothing about it,
the thought of XP Home would never enter my mind.
Now if only SAS V9 were available on Mac OS X natively without the need to
run it through the goofy Virtual PC emulator...
Kind regards,
