No doubt a valid $ issue for some.

Don't many "shops" (particularly universities) still pay for a site license allowing employees a home install at "no additional cost"? Assuming for a moment that XPH suited their various needs, should they be forced to run XPP?

Are you perhaps implying that standalone performance of XPP is much superior to XPH? I'm curious as to what bang-for-the- buck differences you might be aware of ...

Note that I have been sort-of boycotting XP and do not run it. Sooner or later the industry will likely force me to abandon W2K for XP or an XP successor.

It was my impression that XPH had the same kernel/guts as XPP, but without major software components often necessary for the "modern corporate network environment", etc. Oriented to a home user with only a pc and a modem, as opposed to requiring an "administrator". Easier to install/config/maintain. If any difference were evident, with potentially less overhead, I would've *expected* XPH to (standalone) outperform XPP by a horse-hair or 2. Of course, what MS actually sent out the door might be a good deal different from what I've described.

I'm surprised that the XPH/SAS issue hasn't been settled. In the thread some months ago on the subject the consensus *seemed* to be that most SAS products were 100% (standalone) functional, and that the only remaining issue had to do with Tech. Support.

Do we even -know- why SAS V9 is officially unsupported for, say, XPH/SAS Base (only)? Are there "technical" issues? Only "policy" issues? Both??

That is yet another can-o-worms? SAS attempted a native Mac version years ago, then dropped it? Without any definitive knowledge on the subject, I've been sort-of assuming SI abandoned Mac because Apple was less-than-forthcoming as to specs for future OS upgrades/versions and/or OS changes were too difficult to keep up with. Perhaps someone has better info on the subject.
